After the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO) came into force on the 1st of October 2006, all business must now carry out a Fire Safety Risk Assessment.
The aims of the RRFSO are to:
- Detail the prevention of fires through risk reduction
- Makes it the business owners responsibility to ensure the safety of anyone using the premises and those in the immediate vicinity
- Removes the requirement for fire certificates
You will need to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment if you are:
- An employer
- A landlord or a managing agent of a property with multiple occupancy
- Responsible for managing the common-access areas of flats, maisonettes or house in multiple occupancy
Fire and Safety Solutions Ltd recognise the importance of this and offer the following service:
- Asses and explain to you what you have to do to comply with fire safety law; and
- Assist you to carry out a Fire Safety Risk Assessment and identify the general fire precautions you need to have in place, including an action plan if applicable
- Provide training to a nominated person(s) in carrying out routine a Fire Safety Risk Assessment
The Fire Safety Risk Assessment consists of the following areas:
- Identify potential fire risks and hazards
- Check any existing fire detection and warning systems
- Asses and walk through current escape routes, evacuation procedures and emergency plan
- Asses what current fire training is given
- Asses the frequency of fire safety equipment servicing
Once this is completed a full report is produced with guidelines on areas of improvement, if applicable, for you to be compliant with the law.
Where relevant we will offer additional training on:
- Fire drills and escape routes
- Creating an effective emergency plan
- Frequency fire safety equipment should be serviced
- The responsibilities of your nominated ‘Fire Safety Representative’ member of staff
