Water extinguishers are extremely effective at extinguishing fires, however it is worth stressing that they should only be used where they work best which is on paper, wood, fabrics etc – most of the ordinary items you find in an office or around the home. These are also known as ‘Class A Fires’.It is ESSENTIAL that you do not use a water fire extinguisher to try and put out an electrical fire as the water will conduct electricity which in itself could prove fatal to the person operating the water fire extinguisher. For electrical fires you would use a specific fire extinguisher designed for this such as CO2.
We will are always happy to advise and if required asses your fire extinguisher needs to ensure you have the correct equipment for your building. We also offer all of our fire extinguishers in two ranges, basic range and premium range. The premium models have a nicer finish and higher fire rating than the basic model counterparts.
We also hold an Environment Agency Waste Carriers License which enables us to safely dispose of and recycle your old or unwanted fire extinguishers. There are very few companies who hold this license directly, but at Fire and Safety Solutions we feel strongly that we have a responsibility to dispose of fire extinguishers safely and responsibly.
