When you think of Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems most people think of large scale commercial kitchens with all of the associated fire and safety equipment, ready to deal with a fat fire or similar emergency rapidly and automatically, keeping staff and buildings safe from the danger of fire.
However, those risks are just as relevant in your home and many people are not aware that our automatic fire suppression systems can also be installed in domestic kitchens as well as commercial kitchens, keeping you safe from fire by extinguishing it immediately.
Recently, at Fire and Safety Solutions we received one such enquiry from a private individual who requested a very specific installation, a complete kitchen fire suppression system to be installed over the cooker hob at their flat in Kensington. In addition, as the kitchen is a very modern, clean and contemporary design, none of the suppression system should be visible.
Most systems supplied by other fire safety companies would struggle to meet this need, however the nature of our system combined with our installation experience means we knew that we would be able to design and install the perfect solution.
The images on this page show the system following the installation and we think you will agree, it is extremely discreet. The cylindrical cooker hood contains the extraction fan, filters and electrics as normal but in addition on the underside of the hood there are 2 nozzles where the suppression agent is emitted from (in this case, FM200 which is a clean suppression that leaves no sticky residue).
The sensor tubing that detects a fire and initiates our system is housed out of sight within the cooker hood too, directly over the hob where the source of the fire would be.
The cupboard immediately to the right in the photographs contains the central heating/water boiler for the flat. Occupying a very small space right at the top of the cupboard is our fire extinguisher containing FM200 plus the controls which are completely out of the way.
There is also a manual release which can be used by the client if desired which is housed in the cupboard. The client also requested an electrical output facility which they could connect to a fire alarm which is an optional extra.
We are extremely proud and happy with the installation but more than that the client is delighted which is always our aim. The system offers full fire protection without compromising the design of the kitchen or being instructive.
